What is Scanner Radio?
A scanner radio is a radio that can scan a group of frequencies. Usually in the 30 MHz to 900 MHz. This segment of frequencies is used by many different radio systems. From Police and Fire departments to Airplanes, Military, Highway maintenance, Amusement Parks, Maritime, RailRoads, Car Races and so much more.

Why Scanner Radio?
With a scanner you can find out whats going on in your neighborhood as it happens and before the local news reports it. Or you can listen to what is going on behind the scenes at a local store or company.

How do I Listen?
The first thing to do is get a radio. But before you shell out cash for a nice new radio, you should first do some research and figure out what the band and type of system the group you want to monitor is using. CityFreq.com find frequencies for your area. RadioReference.com frequencies and information for radio systems in your area. After you figure out what kind of scanner you need take a trip to your local Radio Shack (small selection) or look online Scanners on Ebay.com
